Rinjani Indonesia
March 13, 2026
Hello, adventurers! Mount Rinjani has officially reopened for the 2026 trekking season. However, please keep in mind that this year’s registration and trekking systems are significantly different from previous years. The Mount Rinjani National Park Office (TNGR) has implemented cutting-edge technology to ensure better safety and environmental preservation.
Don’t let your trekking plans fall apart due to a technical misunderstanding! Here is the latest and most complete guide to registering online via the e-Rinjani app for the 2026 season.
The year 2026 marks a new era of trekking: "Smarter, Safer, and Greener." Based on safety incidents and waste management issues from previous years, TNGR now requires a series of new procedures integrated directly into the online registration:
Real-Time Monitoring: Your registration is linked directly to a hiker tracking system.
Guaranteed Safety: New safety features make it easier for evacuation teams to respond during emergencies.
Waste Control: The strict "Digital Zero Waste" policy begins right at the registration stage.
Follow this registration flow from start to finish to secure your climbing permit (Simaksi):
1. Document Preparation
Before opening the app, prepare the following:
Identification Card (KTP/Passport): Required for every team member.
Medical Certificate (Health Certificate): Must be recent and valid. You can obtain this from a local health center (Puskesmas) or hospital. Medical check-ups at the entrance checkpoints are much stricter this year.
2. Registration and Account Creation
Download the App: Ensure you are using the latest version of the e-Rinjani app, available on Android (Google Play Store) and iOS (App Store).
Create a New Account: If you don't have one, register with an active email and phone number. Complete your profile data thoroughly.
3. Select Route, Date, and Package
Once logged in, you will see a more detailed interface:
Choose Entry Point: There are 6 official routes: Sembalun, Senaru, Aik Berik, Timbanuh, Torean, and Tete Batu.
Choose Trekking Date: The app will display the remaining daily quota. Remember, tickets have been released in stages since March 6, 2026, for the trails opening on April 1, 2026. Don’t miss out!
Select Trekking Package: You must choose your trekking type (Personal or via a Trekking Organizer/Open Trip). For challenging routes like Senaru and Sembalun, using an official trekking service is highly recommended.
4. Trash Registration (New Digital Zero Waste System)
This is the most crucial new step for 2026:
Waste Inventory: In the app, you are required to input a list of items you are carrying that could potentially become trash (food packaging, plastics, water bottles, batteries, etc.).
Unique Code: After inputting your inventory, you will receive a unique code. This code must be shown during check-out to ensure the amount of trash brought back down matches what was registered.
5. Payment
Online Transfer: Once all data is complete, pay for your trekking ticket via bank transfer (Virtual Account) or designated retail outlets.
Instant Confirmation: The app will provide an instant payment confirmation.
6. Collecting SIMAKSI and RFID Wristbands
After arriving in Lombok and heading to the entrance:
Scan QR Code: At the entrance checkpoint, show the QR Code from your app to the officers.
Exchange for RFID Wristband: Every hiker is required to exchange their electronic ticket for an RFID wristband. This is your digital identity throughout the trek.
Here is how TNGR is utilizing RFID and other technologies to keep you safe:
RFID Wristband: This band stores your identity and sends signals to Personal Beacons to monitor your position in real-time at the Crater Rim (Pelawangan) and the Summit.
Personal Beacon: The TNGR team has placed tracking beacons along the main trails. This system ensures that no more hikers get lost or wander off the official path.
Thermal Drones: Officials have stationed thermal imaging drones to accelerate search and rescue processes if an emergency occurs in hard-to-reach areas.
Book Well in Advance: Daily quotas remain limited to preserve the ecosystem, so book your tickets as soon as they become available.
Update the App: Always ensure your e-Rinjani app is updated. The high-tech trekking features are only available in the 2026 version.
Physical Preparation: While the 2026 system is high-tech, Rinjani remains a physically demanding mountain. Prepare your fitness well in advance.
