Trekking Mount Rinjani is one of the most extraordinary experiences in Southeast Asia. However, as a physically demanding high-altitude volcano, thorough preparation is essential — especially regarding safety and protection. On March 5, 2026, Mount Rinjani National Park (TNGR) officially launched the Premium Trekking Insurance policy to elevate safety standards and ensure better emergency response.
Mandatory safety policy effective 2026
This policy was introduced as a direct response to several serious incidents during the 2025 trekking season:
Ministry of Forestry-backed safety initiative
From the moment the visitor enters the trekking gate until they exit the National Park area, with a maximum duration of 4 days (4 × 24 hours).
Only valid on official Mount Rinjani trekking trails (including Sembalun, Senaru, Pelawangan area, and Segara Anak Lake).
Applies to all trekkers without adequate personal coverage
Trekkers who do NOT have personal travel insurance covering: high-altitude trekking (above 3,000m) or emergency medical evacuation including helicopter rescue.
Trekkers who already have personal insurance covering the above. However, they must submit their Insurance Company Name and Policy Number to be registered in the National Park system.

Strict Conditions ApplyHelicopter evacuation is only available for verified medical emergencies and must be approved by a certified physician.
Warning: If total evacuation costs exceed the insurance coverage limit, the remaining balance becomes the trekker's own responsibility.
