Official Policy — Effective March 5, 2026Rinjani Premium Insurance is a mandatory safety policy introduced in 2026. It is specifically designed to protect trekkers from high-risk activities, covering accident protection, Search and Rescue (SAR) costs, and helicopter evacuation up to a maximum of IDR 260,000,000.

Duration of Coverage

From the moment the visitor enters the trekking gate until they exit the National Park area, with a maximum duration of 4 days (4 × 24 hours).

Coverage Location

Only valid on official Mount Rinjani trekking trails (including Sembalun, Senaru, Pelawangan area, and Segara Anak Lake).

Who Must Purchase This Insurance?

Applies to all trekkers without adequate personal coverage

MUST Purchase

Trekkers who do NOT have personal travel insurance covering: high-altitude trekking (above 3,000m) or emergency medical evacuation including helicopter rescue.

EXEMPT (with conditions)

Trekkers who already have personal insurance covering the above. However, they must submit their Insurance Company Name and Policy Number to be registered in the National Park system.

Available for life-threatening emergencies only

Rinjani's terrain is extremely steep, remote, and has very limited land evacuation access — manual evacuation can take 6–12 hours. This insurance enables helicopter evacuation which is crucial in life-threatening situations.
