Rinjani Indonesia
May 12, 2026
The 14th edition of Rinjani 100, held from May 1-3, 2026, has officially concluded, leaving behind stories of grit, pain, and glory. Mount Rinjani once again demonstrated why it is regarded as one of the most brutal yet breathtaking ultra-trail courses on the planet.
Here are the most fascinating facts that defined Rinjani 100 this year:
2026 set a new milestone with 2,275 participants. Remarkably, 900 of these were international runners representing 38 different countries. The villages of Sembalun and Senaru were transformed into a vibrant global hub for trail enthusiasts.
For the first time, the event introduced a grueling 162KM category with a 55-hour Cut-Off Time (COT). With its extreme vertical gain and unstable volcanic terrain, it is now ranked among the toughest 100-mile races in the world. China's Zairan Li secured his place in history as the inaugural champion of this distance.
A major highlight was the 100KM Women's category, where Dian Upa Salurante from Toraja claimed the top spot. Her victory underscores the rising dominance of Indonesian athletes in technical trail running, proving they can match the world's elite on their home turf.
The 2026 edition saw the return of the classic Senaru-to-Summit route for the 60km and 100km distances. This route is legendary for its dense, technical tropical rainforest climbs, offering a stark contrast to the barren, freezing scree slopes near the peak.
The event featured world-renowned athletes, including Gediminas Grinius (Lithuania) and Sange Sherpa (Nepal), who battled in the 162km category. Their participation has significantly boosted the international profile of the race and Lombok as a premier sport tourism destination.
